Working as a freelancer means that you are working independently most of the time. As an independent worker, you need strategies to not only survive but also to thrive as a freelancer. Of course, this is not an absolute guide for success as the times change and you should adapt to the times and your environment.

Here are 6 strategies to survive and thrive as a freelancer.

Come up with a road map
Your client might tell you what the project needs to look like. It is your job to deliver what your client wants as s/he will pay your bill. So, make sure to come up with a road map that will bring you there. And map out all the obstacles that are standing between you and your goals.
Stay Focused and Avoid Distractions
Working independently, like we have said means that you will be working without supervision. Your client might provide guidance and critique of your work, and provide you a deadline to finish the task. You might end up procrastinating to a point where there is a work backlog. To avoid that, you need to stay focused and avoid distractions at all costs.
Operate under strict self-discipline
Discipline is the key to success in freelancing. Operating with self-discipline eliminates consequences such as staying up late to finish a project, getting fired from a client from unsatisfactory work, and burning yourself out. Considering that freelancing means that you may not come face to face with your client, it is very crucial to make sure that you operate under strict self-discipline since no one is quite there to supervise you. It is that strict self-discipline that will help you plan your work and strive towards thriving.
Find a community of other independent workers
Working as a freelancer gets lonely. You need a friend to talk to, keep your accountable, and have coffee or lunch with. This is why you should join a coworking space where you can be in a community with other freelancers and entrepreneurs who understand what you are going through.
Staying Passionate with Your Work
Make sure you picked a freelancing career that you are passionate about so you can continue for the long haul instead of doing it as a short hustle.
Come up with a realistic routine
Designing a routine is part of your success when working remotely. Routines are meant to enhance and promote efficiency. With that idea, it is very crucial to make sure that you are in a position to develop a realistic routine.
These strategies would elevate your freelancing career to the next level so you wouldn't be only surviving as a freelancer, but also thriving.
